Your Tasks
The position as OpenShift Engineer essentially includes the operation of the Kubernetes platform, from cluster management, container orchestration, CI/CD integration and automation over monitoring, security and troubleshooting to collaboration with internal developer teams.
- Ensuring the operation of the Red Hat based server landscape, further development of this server landscape, as well as strengthening the Linux team in the area of operations.
- Leading small projects and independent collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Applying knowledge in the areas of classic VM-based on-prem and cloud solutions, as well as modern containerization, and evaluating the optimal platform in each case.
- Supporting the automation of operations using Ansible, as well as developing new concepts in system design and architecture.
- Maintaining and continuously optimizing IT security with the expertise and assistance of our highly competent cybersecurity team.
- Participation in the interdisciplinary project environment of the university.
Your Profile
- Degree in computer science and/or successfully completed further education (HF/FH) in computer science.
- Ideally 5 years of professional experience as a Linux and Kubernetes system engineer, preferably in an enterprise environment.
- Solid knowledge in OpenShift, ArgoCD, RHEL, Gitlab, Ansible, Ansible Automation, Satellite and Podman, as well as additional experience with Grafana/Prometheus and Keycloak.
- Experience in operating various web server stacks such as Apache and Nginx. Also good database knowledge with MariaDB/MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Experience in server virtualization with VMware, as well as in cloud platforms is desirable.
- High motivation to automate repetitive tasks and processes.
- Working style with a pronounced sense of IT security across all IT topics.
- Additional certifications (Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator (EX280), RHCSA or RHCE) are desired.
- Integrity, openness and authenticity, as well as a high degree of independence and initiative.
