With nearly 1,000 employees, the Department of Psychiatry has a triple mission covering the treatment of mental disorders, training, and research. The department's mission is to detect and effectively treat increasingly frequent and diverse pathologies while respecting patients and their families.
Organized into 5 services, the department offers a very broad and diversified range of care including hospital care, multidisciplinary outpatient care according to different modalities and intensities, organized according to the principles of community psychiatry, as well as specialized programs and units.
A high-quality integrated and structured clinical teaching is provided by the department for physicians in training, raising awareness of psychological, biological, and social dimensions. The department also provides structured theoretical training in the 3 main models of psychotherapy as well as individual and group supervisions included in the training curriculum.
Finally, the department also offers active support for research pathways in connection with a translational and clinical research center meeting a high level of quality.
The geriatric psychiatry service offers psychiatric, psychosocial, and psychotherapeutic treatments to the elderly population of the canton of Geneva as part of a public service mission. The service contributes to the prevention of mental illnesses and the psychosocial consequences of psychiatric disorders in collaboration with various partners.
Job Description
Within an interdisciplinary mobile team, you are responsible for the smooth operation of a care unit and ensure the quality of care services. You thus provide psychiatric and psychotherapeutic follow-up for patients living at home and supervise junior doctors.
You participate in on-call duties and shifts of the heads of clinic.
We establish a career plan supported by mentoring. This career plan allows you to choose one or more areas of specialization in the following four axes:
Clinical: You will have the opportunity to deepen your clinical skills in all areas of psychiatry through advanced training recognized by the FMH. You can also access additional certified training offered both internally and externally.
Research: The position offers the possibility to develop a research activity within a dedicated group, with support provided by the department's research platform. A specific work time dedicated to research can also be arranged.
Teaching: You will actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as a lecturer, supervise master’s theses, and benefit from pedagogical training to strengthen your teaching skills.
Management: You will have the opportunity to develop your managerial skills through access to certified training offered both internally and externally.
Qualifications
You hold a federal medical diploma or training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).
You have an FMH title in psychiatry and psychotherapy or an equivalent title recognized by MEBEKO or advanced postgraduate training in psychiatry and psychotherapy (clinical experience of 4 years in psychiatry and at least 1 year in somatic medicine).
For non-French speakers, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required.
