The opportunity
As the Head of Tax at Hitachi Energy, you will lead the global tax function, overseeing a team of approximately 60 professionals. You will provide strategic tax guidance across a wide range of areas including corporate income tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, and legal and capital structuring. Acting as a trusted advisor to our global Business Units and subsidiaries, you will also manage relationships with external tax service providers in various jurisdictions.
You will be based in Zürich, Switzerland and will report to Hitachi Energy’s Chief Financial Officer.
How you will make an impact
- Lead and develop a global team of ~60 tax professionals.
- Deliver expert tax advice to ensure compliance with international and local tax regulations.
- Serve as the internal advisor on complex tax matters and coordinate resolution strategies.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and risk areas; propose and implement mitigation strategies.
- Establish and maintain global tax standards, policies, and procedures to drive operational efficiency.
- Manage external tax service providers, ensuring optimal balance between scope and cost.
- Oversee tax accounting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy in quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Represent the company in negotiations and interactions with tax authorities on policy and compliance matters.
Your Background
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; additional qualification such as Swiss Certified Tax Expert is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in international tax, including significant exposure to Swiss tax regulations.
- Proven ability to thrive in a multicultural, global environment.
- Strong business acumen with a collaborative and solution-oriented mindset.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach.
- Excellent financial and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German is an asset.
