Position Summary
HAYA is seeking a highly motivated IT professional to oversee our evolution. You'll design, deploy, and manage the next generation of our IT platforms, ensuring both data science and global operations needs are met.
We’re looking for a hands-on infrastructure engineer who will keep our scientific computing environment running smoothly on our distributed on-premises servers, our AWS- and Azure-based cloud infrastructure, and on Microsoft 365 and Google Cloud Platforms. You’ll partner closely with Data Science, Research, and corporate functions to deliver rock-solid uptime, bullet-proof data protection, and cost-efficient growth. The right person brings deep technical fluency, an eye for detail, and the judgment to focus on solutions that solve real problems without creating new ones.
What’s in it for me?
This is a rare opportunity to own and shape IT systems at a cutting-edge biotech from the ground up. You’ll have the independence to build infrastructure and processes you believe in, solutions that are lean, scalable, and meaningful to the teams they support. You’ll get to explore and implement new technologies, from cloud services to automation tools, and see the real-time impact of your decisions on scientific progress. This role gives you the runway to deepen your biotech domain knowledge, stretch your skills across server management, cloud platforms, and compliance, and become the go-to expert for critical infrastructure decisions at HAYA. If you’re looking for a role where you can make systems smarter, cleaner, and more resilient — and be valued for it — this is it.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Charge: Architect and implement scalable, right-sized IT solutions that improve operational efficiency across scientific and business teams.
- Platform Visionary: Design and manage the evolution of HAYA’s IT environment — including laptops and devices, cloud workspaces (M365/GCP), cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure), network architecture, on-premises servers and scientific computing tools.
- Provisioning & Onboarding: Set up and configure laptops and user accounts for new hires; ensure smooth onboarding with access to the right systems, tools, and documentation.
- Helpdesk Support: Troubleshoot day-to-day IT issues (e.g., printer problems, password resets, file access) and serve as a responsive resource for employee tech needs.
- Infrastructure Mastermind: Oversee general IT infrastructure including servers, storage, VPNs, cloud subscriptions, and global network connectivity.
- Data Guardian: Maintain robust, automated backup systems and implement policies that ensure data integrity, disaster recovery, and compliance readiness.
- Security Champion: Manage identity and access management (IAM), authentication protocols, and endpoint security to protect company systems and data.
- Tech Whisperer: Support and maintain development and collaboration platforms (e.g., GitLab, Slack, Notion), ensuring uptime and usability for technical teams.
- Automation & Scripting: Create and maintain scripts to reduce manual work, minimize errors, and increase IT team efficiency.
- Vendor Liaison: Serve as point of contact for third-party IT vendors and service providers, ensuring work is aligned, efficient, and cost-effective.
- Budget Guru: Track and report on IT spend; recommend and implement cost-optimization measures across infrastructure and licensing.
- Documentation Pro: Create and maintain clear, accessible documentation for systems, processes, and standard operating procedures.
Success Indicators
- Zero-defect operations: Backups restore cleanly, code environments remain stable after system updates, and incidents trend down over time.
- Proactive communication: Upcoming maintenance, risks, and changes are surfaced early and in language teammates understand.
Business-first mindset: Solutions address validated needs and deliver measurable time or cost savings.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of hands-on IT experience, with a focus on systems administration, infrastructure design, and end-user support in a fast-paced environment
- Deep expertise with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration, including user/device management, security settings, and cloud integration
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux server environments, with solid scripting skills to automate and streamline operations
- Strong understanding of networking, VPNs, authentication systems, and endpoint security
- Proven track record owning IT onboarding and helpdesk support, including hardware provisioning and resolving user issues across all levels
- Experience managing data backups, disaster recovery protocols, and cost-efficient cloud storage solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and document systems/processes for cross-functional teams
- Deep expertise on AWS S3 storage, including integration with hybrid solutions involving distributed on-premises servers. Azure storage knowledge is a plus.
- Deep expertise on administration of Linux-based scientific on-premises servers in distributed settings.
- Experience with handling on-premises and cloud-based GPU/TPU based systems supporting execution of custom AI / DNN code and tools, including setup and management of Cuda Toolkit on Linux.
- Management and administration of on-premises GitLab servers is a plus.
Core Values
At HAYA, we believe that how we work is just as important as what we do. Our core values - centered on creativity, integrity, teamwork, and adaptability - guide how we collaborate, solve problems, and push scientific boundaries. We’re looking for someone who not only brings strong technical expertise but also thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative, and mission-driven environment. These values are deeply embedded in our culture and will be part of the interview process as we assess both capabilities and mindset.
