Environmental Engineering Officer
Civil Engineering Office | 60-100 % | Chur
The Civil Engineering Office is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance, and operation of the cantonal roads as well as water engineering and slow traffic in Graubünden. In addition, we take care of the operational maintenance of the national roads within the canton. The canton’s road infrastructure includes over 1,450 structures, including bridges at dizzying heights of up to 90 meters and tunnels up to 3 kilometers long. The challenges posed by the nature of our mountain canton in summer and winter make our work demanding and diverse. As a Friendly Work Space certified office, the health and satisfaction of our approximately 480 employees are particularly important to us. For this reason, we are committed to systematic occupational health management (BGM).
The Environmental Engineering department drives the development and implementation of sustainability strategies and CO2 reduction concepts for the Civil Engineering Office and its construction projects in accordance with cantonal and national regulations.
We are looking for an engineer as an Environmental Engineering Officer for the Structures Department from January 1, 2026 or by agreement.
Your area of responsibility
- Independent creation and evaluation of life cycle assessments for civil engineering projects (bridges, road construction, etc.)
- Support in complying with environmental requirements and legal regulations in construction
- Management of projects and tasks related to sustainability
- Participation and professional support of internal project teams on resource-saving construction methods and material selection as well as CO2 reduction measures
- Evaluation of material and building material selection regarding environmental compatibility and sustainability
What we expect from you
- University or university of applied sciences degree in engineering or natural sciences (ETH, university, FH)
- Familiar with impact assessment methods and environmental indicators
- Solid experience in the fields of sustainability management, resource use, and circular economy
- Experience in the construction industry and knowledge of civil engineering is an advantage
- Conceptual, structured, and organizational skills
