Occupational therapist for the Prison Medicine and Psychiatry Service
The Management of the Prison Medicine and Psychiatry Service of the Lausanne University Hospital is looking for an occupational therapist at a 75% activity rate to strengthen its team within the Prison Medicine and Psychiatry Service. The starting date is scheduled for May 1, 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of medical care, medical research, and education.
The Prison Medicine and Psychiatry Service (SMPP) meets all the health needs of the Vaud prison population. Its staff work directly within the penitentiary institutions and provide somatic and psychiatric consultations to detainees.
Working in a prison environment means operating in a demanding setting, at the intersection of somatic care, mental health, and community health, within an interdisciplinary practice promoting versatility and the development of specific skills.
Mission
- You contribute to care, training, and research, in accordance with the CHUV's triple mission
- You ensure high-quality occupational therapy services for the detained patient population
- You actively contribute to the quality and safety of services, in a process of harmonization, development, and promotion of professional practices
- You organize services in coordination with the penitentiary staff teams.
Profile
- You hold a HES Occupational Therapist Diploma or an equivalent qualification, with Red Cross recognition for foreign diplomas (mandatory)
- You have experience in the care field, with several years of experience being an asset
- You have experience with migrant populations or patients suffering from addictions, an asset
- You have a sense of autonomy, responsibility, and good skills in negotiation, teamwork, and interdisciplinary communication
- You are sensitive to ethics and adopt a non-judgmental stance towards the judicial background of detainees
- You have good listening skills and sensitivity to social integration issues
- You are interested in the continuous development of care quality in an environment dedicated to missions other than health.
The salary class level (between 8 and 9) will be defined according to the profile of your application file.
