At the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Bern, over 20 lecturers teach and conduct research. A total of 270 scientific staff work in modern laboratories on innovative research projects. They require broad support from the central technical services. As of 01.06.2026 or by agreement, we are looking for a Head of Safety and Technical Services.
Tasks
- Management of the building services/safety workgroup and overall building cleaning
- Participation in project management "Infrastructure" (projects in the area of space management, conversion, maintenance and renovation)
- Coordination of construction sites at the department
- Contact person for external university and cantonal authorities in all matters concerning infrastructure, safety, construction and environmental protection
Requirements
- Completed vocational training (EFZ) in the technical field
- Special expertise in the field of chemistry is an advantage
- Experience in personnel management and project management
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form, English skills are an advantage
- Good IT skills (MS Office)
- Manual dexterity, reliability and ability to work in a team
- High resilience, good self-organization, leadership strength
- Willingness to complete the EKAS safety specialist course (GeSiBe)
- Must be able to be on site within 30 minutes for on-call duties (residence near Freiestrasse)
