Company Description
With more than 12,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a nationally and internationally recognized institution. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to consult our 2024 retrospective by clicking here.
With nearly 1,400 employees, the Department of Rehabilitation and Geriatrics is a medical center focused on the elderly and is spread over 5 sites: Trois-Chêne, Loëx, Bellerive, Beau-Séjour, and Joli-Mont. It manages acute situations, notably through the emergency services of the Trois-Chêne Hospital, age-related specific problems, medical rehabilitation, and palliative care.
The Internal Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (SMIR) of Loëx-Joli-Mont at the Geneva University Hospitals welcomes patients for rehabilitation care following an acute medical problem or surgical intervention. Its specialties include musculoskeletal rehabilitation of the elderly and geriatric rehabilitation. The service also accommodates people in maintenance care, i.e., awaiting placement in a facility adapted to their needs.
The team of the Internal Medicine and Rehabilitation Service offers multidisciplinary care centered on the patient and their needs. The goal of the hospital stay is to recover autonomy before returning home or to maintain it before admission to a new living environment.
With nearly 2,500 admissions per year, patients are referred by other HUG services, private institutions, or their attending physician.
The Internal Medicine and Rehabilitation Service has 270 hospital beds spread over two geographic sites: the Joli-Mont Clinic and the Loëx Hospital.
Job Description
Within a service and across two hospital sites, you ensure the proper conduct of the care program in line with defined missions and institutional directives, optimal management of available resources, and staff training. You are responsible for the quality and safety of the services provided, in a dynamic of continuous improvement and interprofessional collaboration. The service is structured according to the service project, and you report its operation to the department management, following a rigorous monitoring of clinical, quality, and management indicators available.
You provide quality medical care on clinical, administrative, managerial, and organizational levels, organizing your interventions autonomously and determining the most appropriate care for your patients.
You also participate in the on-call duties of senior medical officers.
Qualifications
A federal medical diploma or training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO) is required.
You hold an FMH specialist title in general internal medicine or physical medicine and rehabilitation, and preferably have an advanced training title in geriatrics or at least 10 years of clinical experience as a geriatrician. You also have managerial experience and hold advanced management training.
You hold a doctorate in medicine. An academic title (professorial; privat-docent, etc.) would be an asset for your application.
French level C1 is required, both spoken and written, for non-French-speaking candidates.
Your excellent communication and leadership skills allow you to interact effectively and constructively within a multidisciplinary team, as well as with patients, their families, other interlocutors within the institution, and external partners. You are autonomous, rigorous, organized, flexible, and committed. You will embody and promote the institutional and relational values of the Geneva University Hospitals.
