Head Nurse of the Care Unit for the Emergency Department
To complete its team, the Emergency Department of the CHUV is looking for a Head Nurse of the Care Unit (ICUS) with a workload between 80% and 90%, for a start date on March 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of care, medical research, and education.
The Emergency Department ensures the reception, triage, orientation, and management of emergencies and resuscitation situations for adult and pediatric patients.
As a reference hospital for the canton of Vaud and neighboring areas, the department also guarantees the medical, surgical, psychiatric, and/or medico-social evaluation of patients, aiming for immediate treatment and appropriate orientation (CHUV services, other care structures, or return home).
The department is also actively involved in the preparation and implementation of the institutional disaster plan (INCA).
Mission
- You ensure efficient, safe, and quality patient care
- You lead and supervise the nursing team of the unit
- You participate in the management of the department, in collaboration with the hierarchy and interdisciplinary managers
- You organize and supervise training, teaching, and research activities in care
- You ensure the link between the unit and the department management.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent qualification, with mandatory Red Cross recognition
- You have a diploma as a specialized nurse in emergency care or an equivalent title
- You have a diploma in management or are willing to undertake training in this field
- You have at least 5 years of expert clinical practice
- You have a genuine interest in management responsibilities and staff supervision
- You demonstrate dynamism, initiative, openness to change, and decision-making ability
- You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- You show a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
- You are highly involved in the department's development projects
- You can react effectively in acute and complex situations
- You master common computer tools
- Your place of residence is within a 30-minute radius of the CHUV (requirement linked to the INCA plan)
