Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialization of prisoners and the protection of the public.
For the Security Department, we are looking for a committed person as deputy group leader to start immediately or by arrangement.
This is your field of activity:
- You supervise, advise, and support inmates in the day structures and are the central contact person for concerns
- You ensure a smooth daily routine, monitor compliance with and enforcement of safety and service regulations, and are able to recognize and confidently manage critical situations early
- Your tasks also include administrative activities such as writing reports and documenting events
- As deputy group leader, you take on the delegated areas of responsibility on behalf of the group leader
- If necessary, you engage with the company fire brigade
What you bring
- Ideally, you have completed basic training as a correctional officer and have several years of professional experience in correctional services. We expect a willingness to further your leadership training
- You have very good oral and written German skills and ideally knowledge of additional languages
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You are both mentally and physically resilient and can reconcile changing working hours (on-call and weekend duties) with your other commitments
- Your reputation is impeccable (no entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers)
