Position: Temporary
Trainee in Agronomy and Tobacco Grading – Business: ADET / Agronomy / Leaf
The Trainee Program aims to train professionals at a technical and multidisciplinary level to work both in the Agronomy area and in the Tobacco Grading and Purchasing area at JTI. In this position, it will be necessary to develop and monitor activities related to the production phases and the commercialization of tobacco. This journey is an invitation to step out of your comfort zone and seek the development of new skills and competencies through active participation in building learning, hands-on work, fieldwork, sharing experiences with reference professionals in the tobacco sector, and deepening the standards, regulations, and theoretical framework that make JTI a reference in excellence and quality in the tobacco market.
What we look for in you:
- Education: High School diploma required, Agricultural or Agribusiness Technical degree completed (CFTA license required by 09/30/25);
- Total mobility: throughout the program, the trainee will participate in trips and immersions in JTI’s production systems and operations in the three southern states (RS, SC, and PR), spending extended periods away from home;
- Differentials: knowledge in computer skills (Excel, Power BI) and English (Intermediate level);
Your daily routine:
- Develop technical skills related to tobacco production, including seedling production, soil preparation, fertilization, crop management, harvesting, curing, grading, and storage of tobacco, as well as the recommendation and implementation of forests. Participate in producer contracting, filling out registration documents, input orders, and monitoring tobacco delivery, applying knowledge acquired in program training.
- Develop skills in internal grading and tobacco purchasing activities through specific courses, collecting tobacco from bales for sample preparation, and monitoring internal processes and workflows of the area, with emphasis on Blend and Sample Room, aiming to understand tobacco quality and the methodology applied for standardizing Leaf Brazil activities.
- Develop communication and negotiation skills with producers through training, reports, presentations, and necessary materials to inform, recommend, and influence the parties involved in the process.
- Identify opportunities related to agronomy competencies and develop improvement plans. Seek additional information to complement training through reports, books, manuals, meetings, feedback, and participation in training. Develop continuous learning skills through practical activities, knowledge sharing, and theoretical material.
