Introduction

Your Role
We are seeking a Primary School Librarian (100%) to join our Primary School from August 2026.
The Librarian plays a key role in nurturing curiosity, literacy, and critical thinking among students aged 3–11. As the heart of the Primary School’s learning hub, the Librarian inspires a culture of reading, inquiry, and responsible use of information while supporting teachers and families in fostering lifelong learning.
This is a dynamic position that blends teaching, collaboration, and digital resource management within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Specific Responsibilities
What you will do
● Inspire students to love reading and become confident, ethical users of information.
● Design and document the scope and sequence of library and research lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework.
● Support inquiry-based learning by curating resources and guiding student research.
● Maintain and develop a diverse, high-quality library collection across print and digital media.
● Collaborate with teachers and the Digital Learning Coach to embed digital citizenship and literacy across the curriculum.
● Organise community reading events such as Book Week, author visits, and library exhibitions.
● Manage the library budget, systems, and physical environment to ensure accessibility and engagement for all.
The successful candidate will have:
What makes you our ideal Candidate
● Bachelor’s degree and teaching or library qualification (Education, Library Science, or Information Studies).
● 3–5 years of recent Primary teaching or library experience in an IB PYP school.
● Deep understanding of inquiry-based learning and the role of libraries in modern education.
● Passion for children’s literature, storytelling, and inclusive collections.
● Excellent English communication skills; German an advantage.
● Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with confidence using educational technology.
● Valid Swiss work permit or eligibility to work in Switzerland is an advantage.
