Your Tasks
- Responsible for the enforcement of hunting and fisheries legislation in the canton of Appenzell I.Rh.
- The area of responsibility includes in particular the protection of wild mammals, birds, fish, and crayfish and the preservation of their habitats
- Population surveys, habitat monitoring, hunting and fisheries supervision, wildlife damage assessment, hunting planning, classic activities of wildlife protection
- Training of hunters
- General advice on questions concerning wild animals
- Supervision of the Federal Hunting Reserve Säntis
- Contact person for hunters, fishers, farmers, forest owners, and citizens
- Collaboration with the office management, the gamekeeper, as well as voluntary hunting and fisheries assistants and forestry authorities
Your Profile
- Scientific education, preferably zoology, or another profound education in the field of wildlife biology or fish ecology
- Practical experience in hunting and fisheries
- Swiss hunting exam, sport fishing license, or Sana certificate
- Further training in wildlife biology, general ecology, as well as additional fisheries training is an advantage
- Proficient computer skills and very good oral and written communication skills
- Administrative experience desired
- Independent, responsible, resilient, and communicative personality
- Certified tracking dog desired
- Willingness to work irregular hours including weekends (on-call duty –
Category B driving license required)
