Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Institute of Radiation Physics (IRA) at CHUV is active in the field of medical physics, radiation protection, and ionizing radiation metrology. The position advertised is a fixed-term part-time or full-time (80-100%) medical physicist position in the radiotherapy physics group. The group's missions are 1) dosimetry and control of all treatment facilities in the CHUV radio-oncology department, 2) treatment planning, and 3) development of new techniques to improve patient treatments.
The technical platform of the department consists of two Tomotherapy RadiXact units, a CyberKnife unit, an Elekta linear accelerator, a GammaKnife unit, and a brachytherapy afterloading system. The department treats patients with intensity-modulated radiotherapy, VMAT, stereotaxy, and 4D irradiation techniques. Planning is done using RayStation software. Original innovative techniques are constantly being developed in collaboration with a very dynamic medical team.

The Institute of Radiation Physics (IRA) from CHUV is active in the fields of medical radiation physics, radiation protection and ionizing radiation metrology. The present offer is aimed at part- or full-time (80-100 %) fixed-term medical physicist working in the radiation therapy physics group. The group's missions are 1) dosimetry and control of all treatment devices of the radio-oncology department at CHUV, 2) treatment planning, and 3) development of new techniques to improve patients’ treatments.
The department owns two Tomotherapy units (RadiXact), one CyberKnife unit, one Elekta Synergy linear accelerator, one Gammaknife unit and one brachytherapy afterloading device. The department treats patients with intensity-modulated radiation therapy, VMAT, frame and frameless stereotaxy and 4D irradiation techniques. The treatments are planned with RayStation TPS. In collaboration with a very dynamic medical environment, original innovative treatment techniques are constantly being developed.

Mission
The CHUV radio-oncology department will be equipped with a new linear accelerator. The commissioning is planned for the end of 2026 and requires the radiotherapy physics group to work on monitoring the bunker transformation site, acceptance of the installation with the company, testing of the installation and planning system, and implementation of all quality control protocols required by law.
The hired person will be trained in the specific clinical activity of our department for about 2 months before acceptance testing and QA preparation activities begin. Then the hired person will support the existing team for routine activities, to free medical physicists needed for the commissioning of the installation.

The radio-oncology department will be equipped with a new linear accelerator. The start is planned for the end of 2026 and requires the work of the radiotherapy physics group to monitor the bunker conversion project, obtain acceptance of the installation from the company, test the installation and the planning system, and implement all the quality control protocols required by law.
The successful candidate will receive approximately two months of training in the specific clinical activities of our department before the acceptance testing and QA preparation activities begin. Following this, the candidate will support the existing team with routine activities, freeing up medical physicists needed for the start of installation.

Profile
- You have a Bachelor and a Master in physics or an equivalent qualification
- You hold a specialization in medical physics and a PhD in science and have 5 years of experience with advanced irradiation techniques
- You master standard computer tools
- You adapt to irregular hours according to the needs of the department.
- The candidate should hold a BSc and a MSc in physics (or judged equivalent).
- The candidate would be board certified in medical physics, hold a PhD in natural sciences and five years of experience in high level irradiation techniques.
- Fluency in French as well as English are required.
