About the job
Care
Nurses for the Autism Spectrum Disorders Service for Minors
The Autism Spectrum and Related Disorders Service (STSA) is recruiting nurses at a rate of 70% to 90% to strengthen the team of the Psychiatric Crisis Unit (UPMH), located on the Cery site in Prilly. The starting date is scheduled for May 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The STSA is a cantonal reference service dedicated to the care of adults and children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). It consists of a tertiary center, regional structures, and cantonal mobile teams. Its missions include training network professionals and developing clinical research, in collaboration with actors in the health, medico-social, and associative fields.
The Psychiatric Crisis Unit for people with intellectual disabilities (UPCHM), opened in May 2021, has 8 beds and cares for patients with autism without functional language or moderate to severe intellectual disability, in situations of decompensation or behavioral regression, with or without psychiatric comorbidity.
The creation of this unit has significantly improved patient support, both in emergencies and in building interdisciplinary support projects.
The innovative concept of the UPMH is based on several pillars:
- A setting close to a living environment, not a traditional hospital unit
- Integrated medico-educational support, combining medical and psycho-educational skills
- Developmental and functional assessments focused on individual needs
- Behavioral analysis based on severity scales
- Reactive and preventive management of violent situations, avoiding restraint measures
- Active follow-up at discharge, at home or in a socio-educational establishment.
Mission
- You ensure the identification, planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing care in preventive, curative, palliative, and educational fields
- You are responsible for performing delegated medical acts and developing your technical skills
- You contribute to welcoming patients and their relatives, as well as to interprofessional coordination and continuity of unit activities
- You carry out prevention, health promotion, functional rehabilitation, and social reintegration actions
- You participate in continuous improvement processes of nursing care based on evidence.
Profile
- You hold a HES bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification (with CRS recognition for foreign diplomas)
- You have at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of disability and/or psychiatry
- You are creative, autonomous, with good organizational and interpersonal skills
- You demonstrate empathy, flexibility, and a strong spirit of collaboration.
