The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel with a strong background in corporate and finance law to join our dynamic legal team at Hitachi Energy. This role will be instrumental in providing expert legal advice and support across a wide range of corporate and financial matters, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks for our global operations. In addition, the role will act as the legal speaking partner in global projects and initiatives driven by other functions and the company.
How you’ll make an impact
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and support on corporate governance matters, including board and shareholder resolutions, company secretarial duties, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of complex commercial agreements.
- Manage and advise on legal aspects of financing activities, including debt and equity financing, and treasury operations.
- Act as the legal speaking partner for global projects driven by other functions, including HR and Finance.
- Manage and oversee external legal counsel relationships, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal services.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations, new ventures, and strategic projects.
- Collaborate effectively with various internal stakeholders, including business units, finance or HR to achieve business objectives while maintaining legal integrity.
- Stay abreast of relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the energy sector and corporate law.
Your background
- Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one relevant jurisdiction, preferably Switzerland.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a corporate and/or finance lawyer, preferably within a large multinational corporation or a reputable law firm advising corporate clients.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, employment and contract law.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity, professional ethics, and business acumen.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is a plus.
- Experience in the energy or industrial sector is highly desirable
