Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Quantity Surveyor (m/f/d) specializing in the Life Sciences sector to strengthen our team in Basel. In this role, you are responsible for cost management throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects in the Life Sciences field, ensuring financial efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects in the Life Sciences sector
- Develop and maintain project budgets and forecast potential cost overruns
- Analyze and report on project costs and regularly inform stakeholders
- Prepare and negotiate contract documents and tender packages
- Conduct value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality
- Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential cost impacts
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with GMP requirements
- Review and process payment applications and change orders from contractors
- Prepare final accounts and assist in resolving contract disputes
- Stay up to date with industry trends and regulations affecting biosciences construction
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
- Professional certification from a recognized Quantity Surveying institution (e.g., RICS)
- At least 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably on Life Sciences projects
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft)
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- In-depth knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes
- Experience with cost estimation, cost control, and contract administration
- Knowledge of biosciences industry standards and regulations
- Familiarity with GMP requirements (Good Manufacturing Practice)
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Fluent German and English skills are required
