With nearly 1,200 employees, the Department of Acute Medicine (D-MA) includes anesthesiology, clinical pharmacology and toxicology, adult intensive care, and adult emergency services. It fulfills a fourfold mission through its services, which provide expertise in frequent interaction with all University Hospitals of Geneva, thanks to a transversal platform, aiming to ensure the best possible patient care.
The Intensive Care Service cares for adult patients who present or are in immediate danger of developing vital organ failures due to a pathology or its complications, whether medical or surgical, and whose life is generally at risk. It also advises and intervenes when needed during resuscitation situations in other HUG departments and participates in urgent hospital interventions.

In our Intensive Care Service, you provide highly technical nursing care encompassing curative, preventive, palliative, educational, and rehabilitative dimensions. This care is personalized and comprehensive, delivered to patients of all ages and in situations presenting different levels of complexity.
Intensive monitoring of patients, implementation of pain therapies on prescription, execution of resuscitation and emergency measures, and use of medical-technical devices are part of your daily routine. All care is delivered competently, holistically, and empathetically. You are able to handle the complexity of situations encountered and emergency interventions by acting quickly, flexibly, and proactively within the delegated activities.
You collaborate in supervising and training new nursing staff, nursing students, nursing assistants, and other health professionals. You also contribute to quality development and research in the health field.
Qualifications

Selection process:
All interested candidates must apply by April 19, 2026. Your application must include at least a CV and a cover letter. After an initial review of your file, you will be invited to complete a technical knowledge assessment.
For this, you will receive an email with a link to an online MOOC that will allow you to self-assess your technical knowledge base. This skills evaluation is an online training requiring several hours of investment (approximately 10 hours) and invites you to immerse yourself in the reality of specialized services by offering self-assessments and educational materials to help develop your skills.
Once you have completed the MOOC in its entirety, your final assessment will be included in your application file and will serve as a discussion basis during the selection interviews.
