About us
Barmelweid is the leading specialist and rehabilitation clinic in Northwestern Switzerland and the largest psychosomatic clinic in Switzerland. The clinic cares for patients in 285 inpatient beds. The clinic specializes in geriatric, internal, cardiovascular, and pulmonary rehabilitation, long COVID, psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy, psychocardiology, and sleep medicine.
At Barmelweid, lean thinking and methods are central: all efforts focus on the patients. This includes standardized safety rounds, the patient board, and leveling the workload on the wards through flows. Nursing in the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy is complemented by the method of primary nursing, while nursing in the Department of Internal Medicine is supported by care managers.
Patients usually stay at Barmelweid for 2 to 6 weeks. This gives our nurses time to engage deeply with the patients. You can expect a lively operation with interprofessional work that calls on all the skills of a nurse.
Barmelweid employs over 700 staff. It is located at about 800 meters altitude on a clearing in the Aargau Jura and is embedded in a unique environment with a nature park.
