A global sporting body with a large presence in Lausanne, is now seeking to expand its legal team with a Legal Counsel focusing on disciplinary of the organisation and its members.

Legal Counsel - Sports (Regulatory/ Litigation) (m/f)
Lausanne

You will bring your first experiences in the Sports field combined with a real interest in and understanding of regulatory topics with the willingness to learn more about this field. Prior litigation experience is key to succeed in this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Investigation of positive medication and doping cases
  • Drafting written submissions to the Court of Arbitration for Sport;
  • Prosecuting cases (including experience in safeguarding and/or criminal matters), where required, leading the hearings on behalf of the sporting body;
  • Ensuring the prosecution of all cases in accordance with sporting body's regulations and in conformity with a fair and equitable process;
  • Representation of the sporting body if and as required before the CAS and/or other courts;
  • Reviewing reports with respect to offences committed during sporting body events;
  • Follow up in cases of violations
  • Attending and presenting at meetings of the sporting body stakeholder groups.
  • Provide general support within the Legal Department;
  • Advising on and drafting Rules and Regulations, in particular the sporting body AntiDoping Rules
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements

Above all you will bring a profound knowledge of, and desire to work in sports. You should have gained your first experience in litigation and will understand regulatory topics. Training and mentorship will be on offer in this role.

  • Bachelor/(Master) degree in Law;
  • Fluent in English (English mother tongue preferable), fluency in French or any other languages is a plus;
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience as a qualified lawyer in the required core areas;
  • Strong litigation experience. Experience in proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport is a plus;
  • Excellent command of MS Office;
  • Experience of sport law is a plus; experience of antidoping procedures would be a particular advantage;
  • Excellent drafting and oral advocacy skills;
  • Strong organizational, communication and relationship building skills; and
  • Team player
