The Position

We are looking for a collaborative and inspiring individual to join our diverse, interdisciplinary and international Customer Experience and Solution Design (CXSD) Chapter of more than 50 designers. The CXSD team is supporting all business areas with four main sub-chapters: CX research & strategy, Digital Design & User Testing Services, Portfolio solution integration and Physical & Sustainable Design.
This internship will be within the Physical and Sustainable Design sub-chapter that drives the global industrial and sustainable design, User Experience Standards, guidelines & best practices to accelerate customer experience.
Consequently, our fields of expertise are: end-to-end development of medical devices and packaging.
This internship position is located in Rotkreuz, Switzerland, hybrid (some on site presence to be expected, given the content of the work, you will need to relocate in a reasonable commuting distance).
Key Responsibilities

Provide support to more senior industrial designers within multiple project teams in matters of industrial design, design research and low- to high-fidelity hardware prototyping

Create innovative concepts using both 2D and 3D design tools (SolidWorks and Keyshot), visualizing solutions, and collaborating with engineers and external partners.

Plan, prepare and execute usability evaluations on hardware mockups
Who You Are
You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor’s or Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of industrial design after February 2024 and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship.
Furthermore you are

A passionate hands-on industrial designer eager to: learn and grow from a context like our CXSD department working across various functions and geographies and Roche as a healthcare and diagnostics corporation.

An empathic and interdisciplinary collaborator, able to work effectively alongside design colleagues, R&D engineers, and stakeholders.

Able to sketch and create quick paper mockups, followed by more complex ones in collaboration with the team.

Good knowledge of SolidWorks and Keyshot (experience with the animation feature is a plus).

Model making capabilities, quick mockups, basic 3d printing and good command of sketching.

You have a portfolio (pdf or website) that showcases all the above.
Technical details:
The start date for the internship is March 2025 with a duration of 12 months.
Part-time employment is not possible.
It is not possible to write a thesis during the internship.
The application deadline is November 11th. Interviews will take place in late November and early December.
