Missions

L'EVAM est l'établissement de droit public mandaté par le Canton de Vaud pour accueillir selon la loi fédérale sur l'asile (LAsi) les requérants d'asile et les personnes admises à titre provisoire, et pour délivrer l'aide d'urgence aux personnes en situation irrégulière.

Ses missions découlent de la loi sur l'aide aux requérants d'asile et à certaines catégories d'étrangers (LARA), adoptée par le Grand Conseil vaudois le 7 mars 2006. Cette loi demande notamment à l'établissement d'organiser l'accueil des mineurs non accompagnés dans un centre spécialisé.

Les requérants ayant déposé une demande d'asile en Suisse sont repartis d’une manière proportionnelle à la démographie des cantons. Dans le Canton de Vaud, certains requérants sont assistés partiellement par l’EVAM, d'autres reçoivent l'ensemble des prestations.

What could be improved?

The recruitment process was relatively long. The first interview took place in late January, and I received a rejection letter after waiting more than three months. The response was, however, friendly and encouraging, which was appreciated. However, despite several follow-ups via email and phone, the lack of feedback during that time was difficult to understand. The subsequent posting of a new, similar job listing for the same type of position also raised questions. More regular communication and shorter response times would significantly improve the candidate experience.

What works well?

I don't know, I don't work for the company despite the interview I had in March 2024.

What could be improved?

I waited 9 months for an answer and in the end it was negative. The person who took over from the person with whom I had the interview was no longer employed at levam.

What works well?

- Migrants are welcomed with dignity and with a real desire for professional integration. Many activities are offered for their well-being, and EVAM is constantly seeking to perfect the mission entrusted to it by the Canton. The creation of positions to support and assist the multidisciplinary teams and, above all, the educators, is a superb initiative in the UFM field. - The working conditions and well-being of employees are also to be highlighted. Employees must realize how lucky they are to work for EVAM. They must adopt a positive attitude and posture in order to spread it contagiously to the migrants who need it. (internal employee)

What could be improved?

There's a lot of negative talk about EVAM, but it doesn't reflect reality at all. Some employees from border countries want to reiterate the same social model as in their country of origin, without trying to understand and adapt to Swiss codes and requirements. An effort of adaptation and integration is necessary for some employees, who must first learn how to integrate in Switzerland before learning how to integrate migrants.

In France, social work is much more regulated, which means that it would be impossible to have under-qualified staff working as educators when they have no training at all.
