Switzerland is an important location for Medtronic. In addition to hosting the headquarters for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and the Medtronic (Switzerland) SA sales organization, it is also home to the European training center. Switzerland is a significant manufacturing site as well—one out of every seven pacemakers implanted worldwide is produced by Medtronic in Switzerland. Medtronic employs more than 1,000 people in Switzerland, spread across three different sites. In Tolochenaz, near Morges, there are three Medtronic entities: The Medtronic EMEA headquarters, which coordinates activities for this region. SMO (Swiss Medtronic Operations), one of the world’s largest production sites for implantable pacemakers. To date, several million pacemakers have been produced in Tolochenaz. A training center that welcomes thousands of physicians and healthcare professionals from across Europe each year, ensuring the safe and effective use of the highly innovative therapies and devices provided by Medtronic. Medtronic established itself in Tolochenaz in 1996. Switzerland was chosen for several reasons, including its location at the heart of Europe, its reputation for quality and precision, and its humanitarian tradition, which aligns with Medtronic’s Mission.
