What works well?
Audemars Piguet is a legendary Swiss watchmaker. System administrator for a limited period, but sufficient to assess the IT aspect. I arrived at the time of the change of CIO and the reorganization of the IT department, which had an impact on the mission. The premises are good, as is the restaurant area where you can cook your own meal or enjoy a Swiss fondue in a corner. The rather geeky team at the time, with its authentic management format, welcomed me well and gave me the means to work. The technical resources were adequate. The projects were ambitious and properly linked to the watchmaking profession. What I appreciated most was the confidence the teams at the time had in me.
What could be improved?
Remote working, an essential part of the job, has been curtailed by the new management policy. The activity itself is a far cry from the job of IT specialist, and makes the task more complicated. We need a lot of autonomy. The overload associated with the numerous project managers, some of whom have nothing to do with the job, resulting in a sometimes critical loss of time. Because of the distance, I was poached from the mission by a competitor who turned out to be disastrous and the opposite of AP in terms of freedom. So it was a voluntary departure on my part. As the Vallée de Joux is isolated, you need a solid contract to set up there.
