La Commune d’Anniviers est née de la fusion des anciennes Communes d’Ayer, Chandolin, Grimentz, St-Jean, St-Luc et Vissoie le 1er janvier 2009.
Sise sur la rive gauche du Rhône, la Commune d'Anniviers est traversée par la rivière la Navizence qui prend sa source au pied de la Couronne Impériale, ensemble de sommets de plus de 4'000 m. Avec une superficie de 243.4 km2, Anniviers est la 2ème plus grande commune du Valais et la 8ème plus grande de Suisse (état du 01.01.2021).
