The Director, External Warehousing Category will be responsible for leading the strategic sourcing of > $600 million external spend per year for J&J MedTech companies globally. The Director will lead a team of initially 7-12 resources. The business supported exceeds 30 billion$ of NTS. This spend is highly complex in nature and requires close collaboration with key stakeholders within Supply Chain DELIVER and the business to strategize, orchestrate and execute.  This Director will identify, develop and direct the implementation of Procurement goals and strategy, plan and direct the organization’s activities and deliver against targets for financial performance, quality, and service and compliance adherence.



The individual will provide Global Leadership for Warehousing for providing full life cycle category leadership such as category strategy development, managing key 3PL supplier relationships and nurturing key relationships within the business, as part of the full DELIVER scope. The individual must shape, connect and lead resources to deliver on key projects. The individual needs to also demonstrate a strong appreciation and understanding of the complex business needs so as to develop creative solutions to support the business needs both in the immediate term, as well as, the long-term.



The Director-External Warehousing scope of responsibilities include:


·   Develop and drive the Procurement vision for, with and through the stakeholder community for Warehousing Category.


·   Develop vision, strategy and implementation plan for the total Warehousing Category, and respective sub-categories as part of DELIVER strategy, that will effectively meet the long-range requirements and deliver the maximum value for J&J MedTech.


·   Provide strategic guidance regarding make vs. buy business supplier selection process as it pertains to Warehousing Category.


·   Interface directly with executive leaders of 3PL partners to assure alignment of JNJ’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost. Develop deep supplier relationships with strategic 3PL partners to include data review and analysis, performance management and development and improvement of end-to-end value, and bring innovation to the business.


·   Understand operational considerations deeply.  Identify business needs and partner with DELIVER and BU Source Leaders to deliver annual value improvements and drives competitive advantage.  


·   Understand long-range requirements for external Warehousing and engage in the strategic planning process to ensure strong synchronization with SC DELIVER.


·   Build and maintain relationships throughout JNJ that results in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of optimal approaches and solutions.


·   Identify, develop and direct the implementation of Procurements goals and category strategies, based on deep subject matter expertise and an informal understanding of industry/market dynamics.


·   Escalate issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization.
