For the Research with Neutrons and Muons (NUM) division we are looking for a

PhD Student
Quasiparticle transport and decay in frustrated magnets
Your tasks
  • Use scattering techniques, primarily inelastic neutron and X-Ray scattering, to investigate the propagation and decay of quasiparticle excitations in frustrated magnets
  • Analyse experimental data and develop interpretations using analytical and numerical models
  • Collaborate with theoreticians (modelling) and chemists (materials discovery and characterization)
  • Publish results in scientific journals and present findings at scientific meetings
Your profile
  • Master degree in physics or physical chemistry
  • Knowledge of neutron/X-Ray scattering and/or magnetism
  • High level of proficiency in numerical data analysis and/or computer simulation
  • Able to work independently in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research team
  • Willing to regularly travel internationally
  • Good communication skills in English
