In order to complete our team, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) wishes to expand its team by recruting a :

TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP or ASSOCIATE PROFESSORIN HISTORY OF POLITICAL THOUGHT

Description

In your functions, you will have to :

Teaching (45%)

Six hours a week of teaching throughout the year, at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Additionally supervision of Master’s dissertations and PhD theses.

Research (45%)

The post-holder will pursue their own research in the history of political thought. They will be expected to produce international- level academic research publications.

The post-holder will work in collaboration with the Walras-Pareto Centre for the History of Economic and Political Thought ( www.unil.ch/cwp')).

They will also seek external funding, in particular from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Administrative responsibilities (10%)

In accordance with statutory requirements and in the name of collegiality, the post-holder will take on any administrative tasks that may be assigned to them by the Institute, Faculty, University or university decision-making bodies.

Requirements

In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills :

  • PhD in history, political sciences or equivalent;
  • Academic teaching experience in the history of political thought;
  • Proven research record in the history of political thought, with a demonstrable interest in political theory.
  • Good links with international research networks in the field;
  • Ability to attract external research funding;
  • Proficiency in French and English, orally and in writing;
  • Ability to teach in French within two years.
