This is a full time position based in our office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mechanical Engineer - New Product Development

Primary Function

  • Design mechanical concepts for CPI new products development

  • Capacity to delegate tasks to English speaking engineers in other sites

  • Plastic and sheet metal tooled parts design

  • Prototyping

  • Accountable for specifications, 3D CAD, 2D drawings, dimensional stack analysis, mechanical FEM analysis, test plans, test reports and metrology approval.

  • Provide estimated schedule of allocated tasks

  • Support Commercial Dept. to estimate cost of the designed parts, tools, assemblies

  • Provide technical expertise to other departments (Manufacturing, Customer Support teams) 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Mechanical Design Concepts and prototyping (30%)

  • 3D models and 2D drawings, calculations, technical documentation associated (30%)

  • Mechanical Design Test, Verification and Quality (30%)

  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned (10%) 

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Micro-Mechanics or equivalent.

  • Experience in Mechanical new product Design for a minimum of 5 years

Key Attributes for Success

  • Develop his/her technical expertise in some areas of the mechanical design

  • Strong knowledge of CAD software and related tools (Solidwork, Catia, Créo/ProE)

  • Offers examples of creative, inventive, robust, and cost viable design alternatives

  • Ability to propose design, implement and test a complete system based on specific requirements

  • Skills on electrical motors, solenoids, clutches and similar eletro-mechanical components

  • Manufacturing methods for medium volume series (metal stamping, injected plastic parts, machining processes)

  • Follow and contribute to the evolution of the processes and procedures within the development process

  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities

  • Able to diagnose issues at product, system, module level and suggest corrective actions

  • Creative, work quickly and independently; attention to detail and commitment to excellence

  • Prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines and seek assistance/direction when necessary.

  • Results and people oriented with sound judgment—ability to balance other business considerations

  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to interface with personnel from various departments and levels.

  • Team player – able to work in a matrix organization

  • Good oral, written and telephonic communication skills with the ability to conduct effective oral presentations in both French and English.

  • Ability to travel abroad as necessary
