Are small and large vehicles your world? Your training location in the central workshop of the Zurich Cantonal Department of Civil Engineering has all variations of vehicles and trains you to become a professional in the maintenance of passenger cars.
As an Automotive Mechatronics Technician or Automotive Specialist, you will learn how vehicles work, ensure they are roadworthy, and be familiar with their spare parts. You will service and repair vehicles as well as their engines, transmissions, brake, exhaust, and lighting systems. You will treat the body and chassis professionally, protect them from weather influences and aging, and apply new paint. Additionally, you will check and maintain electronic systems, measure brakes and emissions, test fuel systems, and repair complex control units. You will also check and maintain driver assistance systems, hybrid drives, and comfort systems such as ABS or airbags. You will diagnose faults using computer-based devices, remove and install transmissions and drive shafts, and repair lifting and loading equipment on trucks.
You bring manual skills, technical understanding, and a good portion of interest in vehicles. You can communicate well in German, both orally and in writing, are physically resilient, and work reliably and accurately. Passing the AGVS (Auto Gewerbe Verband Schweiz) aptitude test is a prerequisite for the apprenticeship.
