About the job
Company Description
With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a nationally and internationally recognised institution. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to view our 2025 retrospective by clicking here .
The position is attached to the Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine (DMCPR). This department combines a societal mission aimed at enabling access to healthcare for all and an academic mission focused on pre- and post-graduate teaching and research in primary care medicine.
The Primary Care Medicine Service (SMPR) provides outpatient care for adult patients within primary care medicine. This service also offers outpatient emergency medical services to the population. As part of the HUG’s general interest missions, it provides access to care for disadvantaged populations due to their age, social, economic, legal status (asylum seekers, those subject to non-admission, undocumented migrants, prisoners), or lifestyle habits; if necessary, the primary care medicine service also ensures continuity of their care.
Job Description
As the head of the Asylum and Refugee Health Unit (USAR), you carry out and supervise clinical, academic, and administrative activities.
You ensure and participate in the smooth running of the unit by coordinating and collaborating with your multidisciplinary team, composed of doctors, social workers, nurses, and secretaries.
You are also responsible for the medical consultations offered to migrant patients within the SMPR.
You coordinate the medical management of the Asylum Health Care Network (RSA) in collaboration with the AMG and the General Hospice.
You are committed to providing a dynamic and supportive working environment by valuing and developing your team’s skills. Thanks to your leadership, you have the ability to unite your team around common goals and involve them in development, research, and institutional projects.
You assist management in the design, development, and delivery of pre- and post-graduate teaching. You also contribute to the development of quality research within your unit.
You have developed research themes and projects in the field of asylum and refugee health, with significant academic output (including publications and funding).
Finally, as a specialist in migrant health, you represent the unit (USAR), the service (SMPR), and the department (DMCPR) both within the HUG and to all external stakeholders.
Qualifications
You hold a federal medical diploma (or an equivalent title recognised by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO)) and a specialty title in public health and social medicine. You possess the right to practise allowing you to work in the canton of Geneva.
You have several years of experience in community health, including supervision of work and management of scientific studies.
You can also demonstrate successful experience in supervising or managing a multidisciplinary team.
You are interested in an academic career and wish to obtain a title, such as a privat-docent or a teaching position.
