The Zurich Public Prosecutor's Office, with around 500 employees, is responsible for prosecuting crimes committed by adults throughout the canton of Zurich. To relieve the case handlers in all regions and to ensure a sustainable workload balance, the Relief Public Prosecutor's Office (ESTA) was initially established on a fixed-term basis until the end of 2029. In ESTA, the temporarily created positions of commercial assistant public prosecutors to manage mass delinquency are consolidated in one department. Also attached to ESTA is Department A (formerly the "Joker" department), which already existed for relief deployments and includes public prosecutors with a floating function.
For Department A, we are looking for a Head of Department (permanent) with the additional role as Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor (fixed-term until 31.12.2029) to start immediately or by arrangement.
Your responsibilities include:
- Organisation and leadership of the department from a professional and personnel perspective, rolling planning of floating deployments in close coordination with the Chief Public Prosecutor and the responsible Senior Public Prosecutor
- Recruitment, training and coaching of public prosecutors with a floating function
- Case handling as a public prosecutor for cases arising in ESTA
- Active contribution to the development of the Relief Public Prosecutor's Office as well as to a collegial and performance-oriented culture within the department and the office
Your profile:
- Several years of successful experience as a public prosecutor and ideally experience as a head of department at the Zurich Public Prosecutor's Office
- High planning and organisational skills as well as forward-thinking mindset
- Strong communication and networking skills, cooperative interaction on equal footing with various stakeholders
- Supportive and motivating personality with joy in imparting knowledge
- Initiative and commitment, also with regard to shaping the new office
