Company Description
The Geneva Foundation for Sociocultural Animation is a partnership institution, funded by the Canton and municipalities, whose mission is to promote and maintain social cohesion in the canton of Geneva, that is to ensure the quality of the relationship between individuals and society. Through socio-educational, sociocultural, and associative field actions carried out by centers and outreach teams, the Foundation meets the population's needs in terms of meeting, exchange, solidarity, citizenship, and quality of life, with the general objective of preventing social exclusion.
Advertised by the Sous l’Etoile Neighborhood House (Association for Sociocultural Animation in Grand-Lancy), a 70% sociocultural animator position. Preference will be given to a male candidate.
Job Description
- Assume co-responsibility for animation, socio-educational work of the children and/or adolescent sector, and all public receptions in accordance with the association's project;
- Actively participate in the development of associative life and neighborhood animation through proposals for meetings, exchanges, and activities open to the public, promoting respect, tolerance, and solidarity among residents of different cultures and ages;
- Assume management tasks related to activities, including supervising monitors and interns.
- Availability to work during school holidays
Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in social work, HES level or an equivalent university degree;
- Experience in sociocultural animation with children and/or adolescent populations and the general public in free and registered receptions; ease in managing groups and dynamics of children/adolescents, ability to anticipate and manage conflicts.
- Aptitude and willingness to cooperate, work in a team with: animators, monitors, administrative and technical staff, association committee, and networks (other animation venues, schools, municipality, etc.);
- Very good oral and written expression and synthesis skills, rigor, and respect for deadlines
- Good sense of organization, planning, and project management, particular ability to manage priorities and emergencies, good stress management;
- Ability to use common computer software;
- Interest in managing materials, layout, and manual activities;
- Interest in co-developing the cultural sector of the Neighborhood House
- Initiative, autonomy, innovation, and creativity, ability to take responsibility;
- Ability and willingness to network with local partners (municipality, neighborhood association).
- Good understanding of the associative environment and related issues
- Good knowledge of the Geneva social system and the functioning of FASe.
Additional Information
- Salary according to the Geneva State salary scale: maximum class 15;
- Openness to varied hours (occasionally on weekends and evenings, as well as during school holidays, see above) requiring flexibility;
- Driver’s license desired (D1 an asset);
