Supervisor / Caregiver 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialization of prisoners and the protection of the public.
We are looking for motivated and responsible individuals as supervisors / caregivers in normal custody starting immediately or by arrangement.
This is your field of activity
- You care for, occupy, and accompany incarcerated persons within the daily structures and act as a contact person for concerns
- You ensure an orderly daily routine, ensure compliance with and enforcement of safety and service regulations, and are able to recognize and manage critical situations
- Furthermore, you participate in leisure and group activities of the incarcerated persons
- You take on administrative tasks such as writing reports and documenting events
- You engage as an active member of the company fire brigade
What you bring
- You have completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence, (specialized) maturity, specialized middle school certificate, or an equivalent qualification and ideally have professional experience in a similar care function
- You have very good oral and written German skills and ideally knowledge of another language
- You have good IT user skills in the MS Office suite
- You are a stable personality with high physical and mental resilience, flexibility, and social competence
- You treat other people with respect and appreciation
- You are willing to work in shifts with on-call and weekend duties
- You have an impeccable reputation (i.e., no entries in the criminal record and debt collection register) and are at least 25 years old
