We are looking for an Engineering Specialist who is organized, solution-oriented and team player to join us in our Manufacturing Support department, based in our site in Bulle, Switzerland.
About the role
As Engineering Specialist for Chemical plant, you will be in charge of modifications of our production equipment. You will lead or take part of several on-going technical projects (CAPEX and operational small projects) and lead the day-to-day work of your own executions. You will oversee dimensioning/design, planification and realization of technical modifications and new installations in our production plants.
As an expert, you will play a supportive role in the investigation team, HSE policy and continuous improvement teams.

In close collaboration with the related Engineering Lead and reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be part of a very collaborative and passionate team.
What you’ll do
Apart from what’s mentioned before you will:
- As a major actor in project execution, you will be in charge for design, external companies and commissioning and handover activities
- Provide engineering expertise in projects and during technical or quality investigations.
- As an Engineering Specialist, you will take an active role in the coordination of activities and project’s work packages.
- Based on your strong knowledge in pharma production sites you will be a key actor interacting with our production specialists, maintenance experts, and project managers.
- Actively take part in the application of UCBs HSE policy (Health, Safety and Environment)
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical and pharma production equipment and skids, mechanical design expertise (pump dimensioning, piping specification, etc).
- 5 or more years of experience on a pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
- Several positive experiences in project execution, contractor and construction management and commissioning activities.
- In-depth knowledge of cGMPs and regulations linked with pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Your leadership skills and fast situation analysis ability will help us to be a strong partner to our stakeholders and foster your impact on production planning whilst executing our technical change activities.
- Your ability to manage several concomitant activities at different levels (from shopfloor execution to contractor coordination and partnering with stakeholders) will be key to succeed in this role.
- Excellent communication skills, to interact with external and internal partners.
- Fluent in spoken and written French, and a professional level of spoken and written English.
