Recycling of used valuable materials has become increasingly important in recent years.
Meanwhile, the Swiss are among the leading recyclers in the world.
The city of Zurich alone has over 173 collection points with approximately 900 containers that can be used by the public.
However, these containers must also be emptied again!
For this, the city of Zurich requires specialised vehicles that combine various functions such as container collection, weighing systems, separate collection, and unloading.
Development
Such projects require an extensive preparation period, as many clarifications must be made in advance.
Not only length, width, and height, but also many other aspects, such as the division of individual sectors for glass separation, must be defined beforehand.
Container
The container body from LANZ+MARTI AG and our partner Kempf GmbH is made of highly wear-resistant steel, called HARDOX HB 450, so that the very abrasive glass shards cannot wear through the container in a short time. The container is divided into 4 chambers for small metals, green, brown, and white glass. The size of the chambers was determined using experience and calculations together with the customer.
To prevent cans from being thrown out by the wind while driving, the chamber for small metals was additionally secured with an electrically driven roll net.
Maneuverability
To ensure the articulated lorry can cope well with tight conditions, a hydraulic auxiliary steering system was installed.
Using a radio transmitter, the driver can thus steer the trailer through narrow alleys.
Automation
To offer the operator the greatest possible flexibility, LANZ+MARTI AG integrated all functions into a remote control. This way, the operator always keeps an overview of the entire environment during the unloading process.
Safety
The articulated lorry operates right in the neighbourhoods of the city of Zurich. The driver must always keep an eye on the surroundings and, if necessary, be able to alert other road users.
With a complex camera system, the driver also maintains an overview.
