Agricultural Collaborator Plantahof Waldhaus

The Plantahof is a service of the Department of Public Economy and Social Affairs and is the competence center for agricultural training and consulting in the Canton of Graubünden. In addition to the basic vocational school in agriculture, Plantahof offers various continuing education cycles, professional development courses, and conferences and is responsible for comprehensive consulting and the transfer of specialized knowledge in favor of Graubünden's agricultural and alpine farms and other circles dealing with agricultural issues. For these purposes, it operates its own farms at four different locations and two farm shops. The Waldhaus farm in Chur is managed according to organic guidelines and includes the competence center for small livestock breeding (dairy goats, dairy sheep, ewes, and laying hens), 40 hectares of useful agricultural land with forage cultivation, diverse field cultivation, fruit growing, as well as its own farm shop.
For January 1, 2026, or by agreement, we are looking for a collaborator with a main activity in field and forage cultivation for the Waldhaus farm in Chur.
Tasks
- Independent execution of field and forage cultivation work at our organic farm with about 15 ha of cultivated area, 23 ha of meadows and pastures, as well as 1 ha of orchard
- Collaboration in animal husbandry tasks (feeding, milking, and other work in the barn)
- Weekend replacement of staff active in the small livestock barn
- Carrying out maintenance and repair work on agricultural machinery, tools, and infrastructure
- Performing external landscaping work
- Supporting additional farm work as needed
What we expect from you
- Completed vocational apprenticeship as a farmer or agricultural machinery mechanic with experience in the agricultural sector
- In-depth knowledge of field and forage cultivation as well as interest in barn work
- Independent work with agricultural machinery
- Familiarity with maintenance work on machinery and tools
- Category B driving license with trailer exam, possibly forklift exam
- The working language is generally German. Knowledge of another cantonal language is an advantage
