The city of Lenzburg, with over 11,000 inhabitants, scores with its attractive old town, lively traditions, and as a progressive cultural and educational location with supraregional influence.
The Urban Planning & Building Construction department deals with all spatial planning and urban development tasks and performs building administration tasks for the city as well as a surrounding municipality. It works closely with the Real Estate and Civil Engineering & Traffic departments on urban development issues.
We are looking for a Head of Urban Planning & Building Construction (80% - 100%) starting December 1, 2025, or by arrangement.

Your area of responsibility
- You are responsible for the overall management of the department with a total of six employees and lead the two specialist areas of urban planning and building construction in terms of personnel, expertise, and organization.
- Together with your team, you are responsible for all questions and concerns regarding the urban and planning development and design of the city of Lenzburg as a place of national significance. You ensure the smooth process in building permit matters and support external planning agents, property owners, architectural offices, and cantonal specialist offices as a contact person. You accompany planning at all levels and work both strategically and operationally as an urban planner.
- Representing the city's interests in committees, collaborating with authorities, and participating in project groups on urban development topics complete your versatile area of responsibility.

Your profile
- You have a university degree in architecture, spatial planning, and/or urban development, complemented by further training in leadership as well as several years of professional and management experience in a comparable position and are ideally familiar with Aargau building and planning law. In addition, you have project management experience and are strong in conceptual and strategic topics.
- As a leader, you are decisive, gladly take responsibility, and act proactively as well as solution-oriented. You inspire employees for common goals, ensure uniform quality management, and promote the team in further developing services.
- We are looking for a communicative and initiative personality with a structured way of working, negotiation skills, and confident expression. With creativity and proactivity, you actively shape the urban development of the city of Lenzburg.
