A week away from the usual school routine, into nature: Our secondary school camp took us to Walchwilerberg, where we practically pitched our tents at the Hirschenhof. From there, we set off each day for a new programme. It quickly became clear: this week could be tiring – but in a good way.

On the first day, we went to Seebodenalp and the animal park. Amid beautiful views, animals, and first shared moments, the camp spirit quickly took hold. The second day featured a hike. For some, it was more of a leisurely outing; for others, it felt more like a small expedition. In the end, everyone arrived – with tired legs but also with the good feeling of having achieved something together.

There was action in the rope park and sledging. Courage was required, sometimes a bit of overcoming. It was all the more wonderful to see how the young people supported, motivated, and sometimes surpassed themselves. The visit to the Lättich outdoor pool came at just the right time: water, sun, diving board, slides, laughter – and for a moment, simply a holiday feeling. The week concluded with the Flip-Lab. There was jumping, flipping, and trying out. Not everything worked on the first attempt, but that was exactly what made it special.

But the daily programmes were not the only valuable part. The evenings at Hirschenhof were lovely. Mostly, we sat together by the fire, talked, listened to music, made mischief, became quieter, or simply enjoyed the moment. Such evenings are hard to plan – they just happen.

Of course, not everything was always easy. A camp week also means: living together, being considerate, being tired, being able to wait, helping out, following rules, and sometimes pulling yourself together. But there is a lot to learn in that. Not in the classroom, not with worksheets, but right in everyday life.

In the end, we look back on five intense days. Days filled with movement, action, nature, smoke from the fire on our clothes, tired faces in the morning, and many small and large stories to tell.
