Under pleasant conditions, the customer event of Merz AG from Küttigen took place on 20 August. The guests gathered on this beautiful summer evening in Erlinsbach, right on the canton border between Aargau and Solothurn. Here, on the idyllic open-air stage, is the home location of the local theatre association.

The construction company Merz invited to the theatre evening. After the welcome aperitif on the green meadow, Felix Strasser, owner and managing director, was able to welcome around one hundred guests and customers in his opening speech.

In the spacious tent, visitors were treated to culinary delights at the festively laid banquet tables. Even during the meal, there was a relaxed atmosphere. Many conversations revolved around construction technical experiences, project-specific information, etc., but also about the subsequent performance. Some had read up on the story beforehand and many had already seen a film about Geierwally.

After the rich menu, the theatre performance began on the beautiful natural stage amidst the rural backdrop at the exit of Erlinsbach village.

The theatre group performed the unusual love story of "Geierwally", a piece from the 19th century, which still has its relevance today, as it deals with love but also with the emancipation of women. The novel by Wilhelmine von Hillern was published in 1873 and has been filmed several times.

The actors, all amateurs from the region, were in top form and played their way into the hearts of the audience. Walpurga Strominger, the Geierwally, captivated the guests and demonstrated how current a story from 1873 can still be. The skilful performance of the demanding material, in a dialect version by Monika Wild and directed by Ernst Wyss, was rewarded with hearty applause.

During the subsequent nocturnal nightcap, all present agreed: The employees of Merz AG not only master their craft in construction – they also impress as charming hosts and created a great programme for a thoroughly successful celebration.

Architects, planners, real estate professionals, municipal representatives, heads of building authorities … and a colourful group of personalities from the environment fully enjoyed the cultural and culinary offerings on this summery August evening.
