Senior Center Naters - New Building Stelle
Living as independently as possible for as long as possible and still being cared for if needed: The new building Stelle is nestled between the existing buildings of the Senior Center Naters. It offers on three
floors 24 bright 2.5- and 3.5-room apartments for seniors who want to live as independently as possible in their own four walls, but realistically deal with their age and any increasing limitations.
Living above the remains of up to 6000-year-old settlements
During the initial explorations for the new building Stelle, archaeologists discovered remains of Neolithic settlements. Several villages overlap here,
Integrated, central and sunny
Naters, despite having more than 10,000 inhabitants, calls itself the largest village in Valais. The village character shapes the relationships among people - on the street, people greet each other.
And those who have time also have the leisure for a chat. The new building Stelle is located right in the "village", the location on the main road is not only central and close to daily necessities shops,
but also sun-drenched - even in times when the valley shadows are longer.
The excavation work, which took several months, affected the start of construction of the new building Stelle. Not everyone can say that they live on a plot where plowing, living, and cooking took place around 6000 years ago.
A private apartment - but not living alone
As much independence as possible, as much support as necessary. An apartment in the new building Stelle offers a great degree of freedom here. As one gets older, one does not want to lose independence and wants to design their life independently in their own four walls.
And yet there may be one or two things that one can no longer do so well oneself - for example, doing the laundry, cooking a varied meal, cleaning the rooms, fixing a new picture, writing a business letter, or monitoring medication intake through the in-house Spitex. Those living in the new building Stelle can do these tasks themselves or delegate them depending on their wishes and needs.

Modern and practical furnishings
The new apartments are bright, functional, and practical.
Loggia
The new building Stelle was the winning project in an architectural competition. The building gets its name from its floor plan: Two stars whose points confidently and dynamically stretch in all directions - this does not look like apartments aimed at older people.
From each supervised apartment, you can look in two directions. The rectangular rooms are spacious and allow various furnishing options. All rooms are connected, the layouts of the wet rooms are generous and, of course, wheelchair accessible.
In the basement, there is an underground garage, storage, technical rooms, and changing rooms; on the ground floor near the restaurant, there is a modern large kitchen.
A multi-generational house
The new building Stelle is not only for older people who are still quite independent but need increasing support (so-called "late entry" - unlike senior residences). Very young people also stay here: The new building houses public childcare - life is guaranteed!
Thanks to the well-established social services in Switzerland, living in old age is less economically stressful, but one faces other challenges. In an increasingly individualized society, the principles of "dignity" and "mutual respect" must be upheld - that is at least our philosophy.
Not moving anymore in old age
Those who live in an apartment in the new building Stelle usually do not plan to move a second time. As long as it is possible to live in the supervised apartment with perhaps a little more support but still very independently, one stays in the new building Stelle. Should the situation change over time - or suddenly - for oneself or the partner, the rooms in the house Sancta Maria or in the house St. Michael of the Senior Center Naters are available.
Supporting the new form of living - planning for the future
You can support the idea of the supervised apartments in the new building Stelle by becoming a co-founder of the Senior Center Naters Foundation. You thus contribute to a dignified offer from which you may also benefit in the future. When allocating apartments in the new building Stelle or places in the nursing and care home, residents from founding communities are given preference.
