As Director Anatomic and Acoustic Design RIC-BTE, you'll lead the development of Fit-and-Go sound delivery systems across Sonova's hearing instrument portfolio, shaping solutions that combine excellent hearing performance with wearing comfort, discretion and ease of everyday use. By translating customer needs, anatomical diversity and product intent into scalable, reliable and manufacturable solutions, you'll play a key role in strengthening customer satisfaction, product differentiation and Sonova's competitive advantage.
Leading a team of highly skilled experts, you'll work at the intersection of engineering, acoustics, anatomy and user-centred design, collaborating across global R&D to define the next generation of sound delivery systems for multiple brands, products and technology platforms.
More about the role
- Lead the development of Fit-and-Go sound delivery systems and acoustic coupling solutions across Sonova's hearing instrument portfolio, from concept through product release.
- Shape customer-centric solutions that balance hearing performance, wearing comfort, discretion, durability and everyday usability while addressing the diversity of ear anatomy and real-world customer needs.
- Define scalable, platform-oriented concepts that enable reuse across products, brands and future technology generations.
- Partner closely with Mechanical Design, Hardware Integration, Hearing Performance, Materials & Biological Safety, Industrial Design and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development and industrialization.
- Drive innovation by translating customer insights, clinical learnings and emerging technologies into differentiated product solutions that deliver lasting customer value.
- Build, coach and develop a high-performing global team, fostering technical excellence, collaboration and long-term capability development.
- Lead cross-functional decision-making, balancing customer value, technical feasibility, manufacturability and business priorities to successfully bring innovative solutions to market.
- Champion a collaborative culture that strengthens platform ownership, knowledge sharing and innovation across Sonova's global R&D organization.

Must have
- Engineering background with proven experience leading product development within a complex, multidisciplinary R&D environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience building, coaching and developing high-performing technical teams in an international, multi-site organization.
- Strong experience developing innovative products from concept through industrialization and manufacturing.
- Proven ability to translate customer needs into differentiated technical solutions while balancing performance, manufacturability, scalability and business objectives.
- Strong systems thinking, strategic mindset and the ability to navigate complex technical and organizational challenges.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, product, clinical and business functions.
- Passion for innovation, customer-centric product development and collaborative leadership.
- Fluent English language skills.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of acoustics, ear anatomy, user-centred design and/or medical device development.
- Leadership, organizational development or transformation training.
- Knowledge of medical device regulations and validation frameworks.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, portfolio management tools and data-driven product development environments.
- German language skills.
