Job Description

INTERNSHIP CONTEXT:

Within Talan's Data & AI Business Line, you will join a team that designs, prototypes, and industrialises Artificial Intelligence solutions (from generative AI to agent systems) serving our clients and our own products (LLMs via Azure AI Foundry, next-generation data and BI platforms: Power BI, Microsoft Fabric…).

Depending on ongoing projects and your profile, you may contribute to various AI-related topics: generative AI applications, AI agents, LLM integration, data/BI process automation, POCs for our clients or internal accelerators. One of our flagship projects, for example, is an agent-based Migration Factory that automates the migration of legacy BI platforms (Tableau, Cognos, MicroStrategy…) to modern platforms.

YOUR MISSIONS:

Supervised by experts from the Data & AI Business Line, you will work (depending on projects) on three complementary axes:

1. Design and develop AI solutions:

• Develop components, prototypes, and POCs around generative AI and LLMs (prompting, agent orchestration, RAG).
• Design connectors, parsers, and pipelines to integrate diverse data, tools, and use cases (e.g. BI/data sources, APIs, cloud platforms).
• Extend the capabilities of our solutions to support new environments, technologies, and Data & BI platform artefacts.

2. Ensure AI reliability and enhance code quality:

• Improve the design of AI agents and chains (prompting, orchestration, task splitting, context management) to ensure reliability of AI-assisted steps.
• Strengthen automatic validation, regression testing, and the confidence level provided by our solutions.
• Refactor existing code and improve test coverage, typing, modularity, and CI/CD practices.

3. Explore, benchmark, and capitalise:

• Benchmark LLM models (accuracy, cost, execution time) and prototype recent agent-based approaches.
• Document solution architectures and capitalise on reusable patterns for the benefit of other projects.
• Measure the impact of your contributions on real use cases.

Qualifications

Education:

• You are in your final year (5th year / Master) of an engineering school or university specialising in AI / computer science (such as EPFL, ETH Zurich, Swiss universities of applied sciences or equivalent) and are seeking a final year internship (PFE) with a formal agreement.

Technical skills:

• Strong foundations in Python and software engineering: typing, automated tests, Git, good CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of generative AI / LLMs (prompting, agent orchestration, RAG); experience with Azure OpenAI / Azure AI Foundry is a plus.
• Basics in data science / machine learning and a taste for experimentation (model evaluation, rapid prototyping).
• Curiosity or initial experience with the Data & BI ecosystem (Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, dbt, Snowflake, Databricks…).
• Fluent French and technical English (reading documentation and code).

Expected qualities:

• Engineering rigour: passion for clean, tested, and documented code.
• Autonomy and proactivity.
• Curiosity about the state of the art in AI (agents, LLMs, new models).
• Team spirit and good communication skills, both written and oral.
• Impact-oriented pragmatism: ability to turn experimentation into reliable and measurable results.
