Company description
With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a nationally and internationally recognized institution. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to consult our 2025 retrospective by clicking here.
With nearly 1,500 employees, the Department of Rehabilitation and Geriatrics (DRG) is a medical center focused on the elderly and is spread over 5 sites: Trois-Chêne, Loëx, Bellerive, Beau-Séjour, and Joli-Mont. It manages acute situations, notably through the emergency services of the Trois-Chêne Hospital, age-related specific problems, medical rehabilitation, and palliative care.
Located in the heart of a park on the Belle-Idée estate, the Trois-Chêne Hospital welcomes people whose health condition requires hospitalization for geriatric care or rehabilitation treatments. The hospital has a state-of-the-art radiology unit, intermediate care, and an emergency service that can accommodate patients aged 75 and over, excluding life-threatening emergencies.
Job description
As a nurse within the integrated medico-psychiatric geriatrics unit (UGIMP, unit 43-44), you autonomously and/or under medical delegation provide comprehensive and personalized care for elderly patients (> 75 years) requiring acute and rehabilitation care. The unit specializes in treating psychiatric comorbidities combined with one or more acute somatic pathologies.
You work within an interprofessional team and coordinate the care services provided to patients. You ensure continuity of somatic care and maintain a psychotherapeutic framework developed by a multidisciplinary team.
You also perform supervisory and teaching roles for trainees and new staff members.
Finally, you contribute to the development of care quality and engage in professional reflection based on the analysis of nursing care practices.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent nursing diploma recognized by the Swiss Red Cross. Additional certified training in elderly care or psychiatry is a real asset.
A minimum of two years of experience in acute care in a hospital setting, ideally with a geriatric population, is required.
Furthermore, you have solid skills in providing complex somatic nursing care to unstable psychiatric patients. You possess the necessary knowledge to manage psychiatric pathologies in elderly patients. You are also comfortable with behavioral approaches to anxious and depressive patients, possibly with personality disorders or early cognitive impairments. You are capable of defusing potentially violent situations and responding appropriately to patient aggression.
You demonstrate great rigor as well as a keen sense of organization and priority management, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong interest in following elderly patients. In your previous experiences, you have shown active listening skills with caregivers and families.
Thanks to your team spirit and communication skills, you work interprofessionally to unite all partners around a common vision to develop care projects for optimal patient and family care. You appreciate collaboration and multidisciplinary teamwork.
You are reactive and possess excellent clinical situation analysis skills.
Comfort with computer tools is necessary to successfully carry out this mission, as well as a very good knowledge of the French language.
