Company Description
With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) are a nationally and internationally recognised institution. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to view our 2025 retrospective by clicking here .
The Finance Department of HUG is responsible for the hospital's financial, budgetary and accounting management, patient administrative management, tariff setting, investment planning, and the development and maintenance of the economic intelligence system. It manages a budget of nearly 2 billion francs, processes and controls over one million supplier invoices and over one million patient invoices. It proposes and publishes indicators and dashboards to monitor activity and institutional objectives. It is also responsible for producing all official statistics submitted to health authorities.
Job Description
You will act as an expert in financial analysis within the Investments, Planning and Projects division attached to the Finance Department. You will play a strategic role and create the conditions for professional and optimised management of the financing of the institution's major projects. This position covers around ten institutional projects, each representing an investment of 20 to 60 million francs, mainly related to real estate, whose portfolio represents more than 2 billion francs.
In this context, you support the financial management of these major projects from initiation to execution phase, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of financial information presented to the Executive Committee, while complying with current standards.
You thus lead and guide in an integrated manner the process of producing and monitoring the business plans specific to these projects. You provide your expertise and offer methodological support in the development of these project plans and budgets.
More specifically, you advise and provide models for calculating project profitability, including return on investment calculations. Thanks to your analytical expertise and in-depth knowledge of the hospital environment, you question and challenge the relevance of the assumptions made in the business plan.
Furthermore, you offer a global vision of the institution's short, medium and long-term investments. At the same time, you actively participate in the development and automation of reporting and overall investment monitoring, thus ensuring increased efficiency in the institution's financial management.
By delegation, you represent the Finance Department on steering committees for major projects, particularly in the context of real estate projects.
Qualifications
You hold a Master’s degree in finance, management control or construction economics, complemented by 3 to 5 years of successful experience in the hospital sector or management of large real estate construction projects. In project management, you have acquired advanced skills, either through additional training (ideally in the HERMES method) or through proven experience over several years.
You have solid knowledge in financial engineering of large projects (each between 30 and 200 million francs).
You possess strong computer skills, notably Excel, as well as analytical and medico-economic analysis tools. Your expertise extends to the use of mass data analysis tools such as IPA, ERP, Qualiac or CEGID.
Knowledge of the legislative and financial processes of the Canton of Geneva is an asset.
You demonstrate strong writing skills in French and ideally have an English level that allows professional communication.
In your professional interactions, you stand out for your interpersonal skills and active listening towards your interlocutors. Moreover, you demonstrate pedagogy, persuasiveness, thorough analysis and pragmatism.
