Associate Physician Responsible for the Admission-Observation-Crisis Unit in PGE

The General Psychiatry Service (PGE) of the Department of Psychiatry is seeking an associate physician responsible for its Admission-Observation-Crisis Unit (AOC) at a workload of 80% to 100%, on a permanent contract. The starting date is scheduled for 1 November 2026 or to be agreed upon.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.

The General Psychiatry Service (PGE) provides psychiatric care for adults aged 18 to 65 in the Lausanne metropolitan area. It has 108 acute care beds on the Cery site as well as outpatient consultations, offering specialised care in close collaboration with the care network.

The Admission-Observation-Crisis Unit (AOC) welcomes patients hospitalised for initial psychiatric care. Equipped with 18 beds, it manages crisis situations requiring intensive assessment and hospital treatment, before returning home or referral to a specialised unit.

Mission

• You ensure the medical responsibility of the AOC unit and guarantee links with other sections of the service
• You supervise the medical aspects of the unit's administrative management
• You participate in the management of the hospital division of the General Psychiatry Service
• You are responsible for coordinating the hospital on-call duty
• You participate in teaching activities
• You contribute to research activities as well as the development of academic and clinical junior staff.

Profile

• You hold an FMH title in psychiatry and psychotherapy (or a title recognised by MEBEKO for foreign diplomas)
• You have obtained your thesis or are in the process of obtaining it
• You have experience as a chief resident, ideally 4 years, in adult outpatient and/or inpatient psychiatry
• You have experience managing crisis situations
• You have an interest in research
• You possess strong leadership skills
• You are proficient in French (minimum level C1)
• You have an interest in the financial, administrative, and HR aspects of unit management.
