Head of Social Unit at the North Adult Psychiatry Service
The North Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Service (SPPAN) of the Department of Psychiatry at CHUV is seeking a Head of Social Unit at an 80% activity rate, for its site in Yverdon-les-Bains, with a start date planned for 1 August 2026.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The North Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Service (SPPAN) provides care for adult patients from the northern Vaud region, organised into hospital and outpatient centres.
Within these structures, the social service actively contributes to the development of individualised care projects, in collaboration with patients, their relatives and the medico-social network.
In this context, we are recruiting a Head of Social Unit (HSU) who will play a key role in managing social services and supporting complex clinical situations.
The position combines two dimensions:
- Team management
- Clinical activity
Mission
- You coordinate and supervise a team of around 10 social workers, ensuring their support, development and HR management
- You organise activities, set priorities and guarantee the quality of social services, in a collaborative spirit
- You develop social practices, provide support in complex situations and contribute to the projects of the service and department
- You represent the social service and develop a strong medico-social, legal and community network
- You strengthen coordination between hospital, outpatient and living environments and actively participate in coordination forums
- You conduct thorough social assessments and support patients in their administrative, social and legal procedures
- You contribute to discharge and housing projects, intervene in crisis situations and provide support in the living environment
- You support relatives and encourage their involvement in the care process.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor HES-SO in social work (or equivalent with SEFRI recognition)
- You have confirmed experience in adult psychiatry
- You have experience in management or a strong interest in team leadership
- You are proficient in Swiss social insurance
- You are well acquainted with the Vaud medico-social network
- You demonstrate leadership and a sense of responsibility
- You possess good analytical skills and perspective
- You have excellent interpersonal skills
- You have good organisational skills and a sense of priorities
- You hold a driving licence (essential)
Depending on the profile, the salary scale will be between level 10 and level 11.
