Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The newly established main department Medical Service ensures the medical-somatic basic care for the incarcerated persons in all correctional institutions of the Canton of Zurich. As a central organizational unit, it guarantees a harmonized and high-quality health care according to the equivalence principle and works closely with the Psychiatric-Psychological Service and the JuWe institutions.
The main department will operate as an outpatient medical institution and Spitex institution with the corresponding health police permit and will ensure the billing of medical and nursing services according to the mandatory health insurance.
For the medical care of our sites, we are looking for a committed medical professional who is responsible for and further develops the site-specific care.
This is your field of activity
- You are responsible for implementing the medical requirements at one or more sites and ensure the medical care of the incarcerated persons according to the equivalence principle
- In your regular medical consultations, you diagnose and treat the incarcerated, manage medical cases, and provide initial medical care in urgent situations
- You issue professional instructions to the non-medical medical staff, organize site-specific case discussions, and work closely with the non-medical medical site management as well as the management of Medical-Nursing Services, with clearly defined task distribution and interfaces
- You ensure the quality of medical care, promote compliance with medical standards, and coordinate cooperation with external specialists
- You act as an important interface between the respective enforcement institution and the main department Medical Service and contribute your expertise in site- and main department-wide meetings
This is what you bring
- You have completed your medical studies and ideally have completed specialist training in General / Internal Medicine. Additional training in emergency medicine is an advantage
- You have at least two years of professional experience
- You possess a verifiable professional practice license as a physician in the Canton of Zurich as well as an impeccable reputation
- Negotiation-level German skills are required for this position; knowledge of other languages is an advantage
- Very good MS Office skills and willingness to familiarize yourself with new health information systems
- You have proven leadership experience and competence and possess high social skills in dealing with the specific clientele as well as experience in interdisciplinary collaboration
