My very personal BRAND story in 7 parts or how I used the Corona period for myself – Part 4

To pick up the red thread once again, Stephan was also active in local politics for twelve years during the time when our children were still of school age, eight of those years as school president for the benefit of our Schwyz families! I believe he managed this switch between profession, family and politics quite well.

He was known among the schoolchildren as the man with the funny ties when, alongside his daily practice routine, he visited classrooms. These ties were rather accidental but later proved to be very valuable when the children sat in his dentist's chair for their annual dental check-up. The conversation topic was already set.

There would also be one or two treats to tell from our own family. Back then, when Stephan declared the free morning after the children’s school trips, which I had already known as a schoolgirl, no longer a day off school, he was not very popular with his youngest. The father's argument that the school trip was meant for rest and not the morning afterwards was considered more than uncool by Fabian.

For me, it was not always an easy time, as I often had to do without him as a father and partner, not only in the evenings but already at lunchtime when concerned parents sought advice from him on the phone instead of directly from the teacher. Reading the newspaper was often no longer so carefree, but I was always pleased with the successful photographs!

Our children thus learned early on to stand up for personal concerns and sometimes fight hard but fair, because they also experienced having their own father so close in a public office, which makes us as a family public, that is vulnerable but in a good sense also strong.

Looking back, I am very grateful that Stephan not only committed himself to us as a family but also to the welfare of the community, later as the municipal president of Schwyz. If no one did this anymore, where would we be as a society? And if it is done by someone who has the highest performance on the STRENGTH scale at number 1 like him, it makes double sense. Now would actually come the story of how I explained to my husband on that particular Friday that I would be standing in the practice at 8:00 am the following Monday to start my new job as a receptionist in his practice after twelve years as a family woman. After all, I also wanted to work "properly" again, with working hours, holidays, my own salary and lots of people around me. You should have seen his facial expression! But I will tell you that later.
