What defines us

The Board is the highest governing body of the Institute and consists of 8 members and a Chairperson. The members of the Board are elected by the Federal Council for four years and must disclose their interests.

• Active participation in shaping the strategic development of the IPI
• Monitoring and overseeing the implementation of the Federal Council’s strategic objectives
• Supervision and strategic support of the Directorate
• Issuance of personnel and fee regulations and submission to the Federal Council for approval
• Ensuring an internal control system adapted to the IPI as well as a risk and compliance management system
• Determining the composition of the Directorate, except for the Director, and setting the employment conditions of all Directorate members
• Participation in two ordinary Board meetings per year

• Excellent knowledge of strategic financial management and the long-term financial orientation of a public or federal-related organisation
• Profound knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet management, and financial control of organisations
• Very good understanding of the tasks and responsibilities of a strategic supervisory body and good governance in the public sector
• High social competence enabling teamwork and conflict resolution
• Knowledge of the function of intellectual property protection systems at national and international levels is an advantage
• Very good knowledge of two official languages and good English skills
• Independence from functions or mandates that could lead to conflicts of interest with the duties as a member of the IPI Board
